Cabinet Painting & Refinishing Los Angeles

Transform your kitchen without the demolition.

Cabinet refinishing is the highest-leverage thing you can do to a kitchen without tearing it apart. If the layout works, the boxes are solid, and the only thing holding your kitchen back is the finish, refinishing gets you 80% of a new kitchen for 20% of the cost and a fraction of the time. Most jobs land at $8K to $15K and take 5 to 7 days. New custom cabinetry for the same space lands at $25K to $60K+ and takes three to four months. The catch: most contractors don't actually know how to refinish cabinets. They brush and roll, leave brush marks, skip prep, and you're back to flaking paint in a year. Done right, this is one of the most demanding finish disciplines we run. Here's how we do it. Leo runs our paint operation. Twelve-person spray crew, dedicated shop, factory-grade HVLP equipment. Doors come off the boxes and go to the shop. We strip, sand, fill, prime, and spray multiple coats in a controlled environment with proper extraction. Boxes stay in your kitchen. We mask everything that isn't being painted, prime, and spray the boxes in place with the same HVLP rigs. Finish options are lacquer or conversion varnish. Lacquer cures fast and looks beautiful, good for bathrooms, built-ins, closets, anything not taking daily abuse. Conversion varnish is harder, chemical-resistant, and the right call for a kitchen that's actually getting used. Cost difference is small. We default to conversion varnish for kitchens unless there's a reason not to. We custom-match any Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or Farrow & Ball color. If you want to blend new work with cabinetry in another room, we can match the existing finish closely enough that the eye doesn't catch the difference. Beyond kitchens, we refinish bathroom vanities, built-in bookcases, entertainment centers, closet systems, mudroom lockers, and laundry cabinetry. Same crew, same equipment, same standard. Recent job: Pacific Palisades kitchen, 2025. Cherry cabinets from a 2003 remodel. Owner wanted Farrow & Ball "Pigeon," a muted green-grey. The cherry was stained and lacquered, which means we had to strip the existing finish properly so the new finish would actually bond. Doors went to the shop. Boxes stayed in place. We sprayed conversion varnish, three coats, 8 days from tape-off to hardware reinstall. Kitchen was usable from day 4. If your cabinets are sound and the layout works, this is almost always the smarter move. We'll walk the kitchen and tell you straight if refinishing is the right call or if you'd be better off starting over.

Cabinet Painting & Refinishing in Los Angeles Frequently Asked Questions

Most kitchens run 5 to 7 days. The doors come off and go to our shop for prep and spray. The boxes stay in place and get masked, primed, and sprayed in your kitchen. You'll lose the kitchen for the first day or two while we tape off and pull the doors. After that you can use it, you just won't have doors for about a week.

Conversion varnish for kitchens. It's harder, more chemical-resistant, and shrugs off the daily abuse from cleaning sprays, grease, and kids slamming doors. Lacquer is fine for bathrooms, built-ins, closets, anything that's not getting hit every day. Cost difference is small.

A standard kitchen runs $8K to $15K to refinish. New custom cabinets for the same kitchen run $25K to $60K+. So you're saving 50 to 70% and three months on the timeline. The catch: your boxes have to be solid. If they're particle board and falling apart, refinishing won't save them.

Yes if it's sprayed properly. Our finishes go on with HVLP guns, not brushes and rollers. Conversion varnish cures hard and resists chemicals. With normal use you should get 10 to 15 years before it needs a refresh. If we brushed and rolled it like a typical paint crew, you'd be lucky to get two.

Yes. Any Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, or Farrow & Ball color. We can also custom-match an existing cabinet finish if you want to blend new work with existing cabinetry in another room.
