West Hollywood Bathroom Remodel

A precision bathroom remodel in a West Hollywood home — every surface in this room is hand-tile work. The shower is wrapped in Carrara marble laid in a herringbone pattern that runs continuously from floor to ceiling on three walls. A Zellige accent panel in the shower face and adjacent wall sits flush with the marble field, with tile depths gauged so transitions read as a single plane.

Marble herringbone is unforgiving. Each piece is cut and placed by hand. Veining direction has to be coordinated across the run so the eye doesn't catch a misaligned slab. Grout lines are kept tight and the same color as the stone so the pattern reads as one continuous surface. Inside the shower, a niche is detailed with mitered marble returns and a brass shelf set into the wall — the kind of detail that takes mockup, mockup, and one more mockup before the install crew commits.

The Zellige tile is its own discipline. Each tile is hand-glazed in Morocco and arrives with intentional variation — slight color shifts, gentle waviness, irregular edges. Setting Zellige well means embracing that variation while still keeping joints consistent. We pre-laid every box on the floor, sorted by tone and edge profile, and set them so the variation reads as character rather than chaos.

Fixtures are unlacquered brass — Brizo Litze with a lever handle, a hand-shower with brass hose, a wall-mounted rain head, and exposed brass shower valves. The vanity is a single Carrara slab with a vessel-style integrated sink. The floor is a black-and-white geometric mosaic ribbon laid into a poured base — the pattern aligns with the centerline of the shower opening and the vanity wall.

Waterproofing is a Schluter Kerdi system flood-tested for 24 hours before tile work began. The shower glass is frameless 1/2" tempered with brass U-channel and brass clips, templated after wall finish to keep the reveal at exactly 3/16" all around. Every brass fixture, niche edge, and tile centerline aligns with intent.
